Hadesunderworld gow

The Underworld is the realm of Hades and other Greek/Roman Chthonian Gods. It is where all souls go to for judgment by the Three Judges to determine their final resting place. It is a place of extraordinary mysteries for it serves as the bridge between life and death, at least to some legends. Entry is restricted to those whose time have come and even then, only certain living beings are permitted by the graces of Hades, the King of the Underworld.

Greek Mythology (Standard Information)[]

It was a misty, gloomy, depressing, and volcanic realm where all mortals were judged in the afterlife and were either rewarded or cursed by the Three Judges of Hades. However, one must not confuse it as being "Hell" because even moral and virtuous souls were sent there after death, although the Underworld was split into different parts: Elysium, Asphodel Meadows, Fields of Punishment and Tartarus. Legendary heroes of time were often sent to an additional layer of Elysium called "Isle of the Blessed" which was eternal paradise. Overall, Hades presided over the Underworld.

Realm of the Dead[]

The misty and deathly realm of the Underworld serves as the final destination for all souls whose time in the world of the living was extinguished. The souls would be sent to the side lines of the various rivers that flow. To get across to await their ultimate fate, a soul had to make an offer to the boat keeper. The most famous being that of Charon who requires a single offering by a soul in order to be taken across the River Styx and directed to the chamber of judgment which is overseen by the Three Judges of Hades. When a soul stands before the Three Judges, a review of everything that soul has done in the world of the living is examined. After exhausting all analysis, the Three Judges weigh the scale to determine which section will be that soul's final resting place. Most souls are either sent to Asphodel Meadows which is for those who are indifferent or the Fields of Punishment reserved for those who commit significant crimes. However, there are times where the Three Judges will send a soul to Elysium due to dying in battle, or having great recognition or to Tartarus for the truly atrocious crimes as seen by the Chtonian Gods. Rarely is there any living being that is able to enter the Underworld but exceptions have been made by the King of the Underworld, Hades. No matter how a mortal or lesser being tries to prolong their life, the final destination for all is the Underworld and the Three Judges will determine which for all eternity will they stay. Once a ruling is made, seldom is it reconsidered.
